Our Cigar Picks
Ron and Chris are two of the people behind TheCigarHumidor.com. We thought it might be helpful if we suggest a couple of cigars each week or so. We'll try to report on the basic characteristics of a cigar, such as: wrapper appearance, cap construction, burn rate, draw, and others. We would definitely like to hear from you as well. If you have any cigars to suggest to us, or maybe some comments on our reviews, please let us know. You can send us an email using the Contact Us page. If we like your suggestion enough to feature it as one of our future "Our Picks" selections, we'll email you a coupon code for 10% off your next order!
Remember to check out our "May We Suggest" feature, which can be found at the top of
each page. It will help you in the quest to find your perfect cigar.
Ron's PickTheme: Sunday AfternoonGraycliff Espresso PirateWrapper Appearance: Nice dark wrap, slightly veiny
Cap Construction: Beautiful, great torpedo end
Easy to Cut: Cuts like a dream
Even Initial Light: Good initial light, just a few touch ups
Even Burn: One hiccough easily overlooked. A cedar match made quick work of evening up the cigar.
Burn Rate: Fairly quick burn, as is customary with the Graycliff cigars
Draw: Easy, light draw all the way through the cigar
Ash: Darker grey
Taste: Rich and creamy, with a note of cocoa
Aroma: Full flavored, with some coffee and nutty characteristics
Changes in Body: Light – Medium all the way through
Time to Smoke: 30-45 min.
Sunday afternoon. Full stomach. Cup of coffee. Graycliff Espresso Pirate. This combination is my one time of solace every week. Between work, the cost of gas, and all other stresses that seem to occupy the escaping hours of the week, a lazy Sunday afternoon with a great cigar is just what I need to do it all again.
Graycliff Cigars are the product of the Graycliff resort in The Bahamas, a 5 star resort. The owner wanted a cigar to compliment the quality of stay, and Graycliff was born. Sadly, this cigar is not something I can afford to smoke every day, but is worth every penny. I can just imagine myself sitting at the beach, alone, with this cigar, and a cup of Kona coffee in my hand. The Graycliff Espresso is a cigar that, in my opinion, has no equal.

Chris's PickTheme: A New FavoriteJose Seijas Signature Series 2000 PerfectoWrapper Appearance: Beautiful Dark Wrapper
Cap Construction: Perfect
Easy to Cut: Effortless cut, ideal roll
Even Initial Light: Soft flame is my preference, and this cigar reacted beautifully to the first lick of fire.
Even Burn: Nice even burn throughout
Burn Rate: Not too slow, but slow enough to be savored
Draw: Again, a fairly slow draw, but any faster and it would be too much
Ash: Classic grey ash
Taste: Full, spicy, and very rich.
Aroma: Rich
Changes in Body: The first puff is just as full as the last, with the spice slowly waning
Time to Smoke: 1 ¼ hour
This cigar is most defiantly an afternoon or evening cigar, mostly due to its full bodied nature. A peppercorn spice dominates the flavor, which surprised me at first. After the next couple of cigars I smoked, I started to miss, and even crave it. I could not get enough of this cigar!
One of the most pleasant experiences I have had with this cigar has been golfing. By no means am I an avid golfer, and this cigar gives me something to juxtapose my painfully high score with. Quite honestly, I am most happy driving the cart, smoking this wonderful cigar. Though this goes great after dinner with a cup of coffee, or possibly even with a glass of my favorite scotch, I have found that this cigar is best a la carte. A cigar I will not soon forget.
